Artistic Skating
Artistic Skating covers several different areas: Figure Skating, Free Skating Singles, Free Skating Pairs, Dance Skating Pairs, and Solo Dance Skating.
Precision Skating
Precision Skating is when a team of skaters skate a routine of formations to music. This can be a mini team of four skaters or any number up to as many as twenty skaters.

Learn to Skate
Learn to Skate classes are held on Saturday mornings during school terms between
10.00 and 11.00am. Cost $5 per person or $4 per person if two or more from the same family are learning to skate.
A Star card programme is run at Learn to Skate classes. Pupils complete each card starting at one and progressing through to ten. We recommend the Star card programme is completed before considering private coaching or purchasing roller skates.
Equipment
The only equipment a beginner skater needs is a pair of socks as skates are available to hire.
Coaches
Our coaches Pam Peters and Sandra Sharland have many years coaching experience at our rink and were both competitive skaters prior to taking up coaching. They are both Life Members of NRSC. Pam coaches both artistic and precision skating with a current precision team in Nelson of seven skaters. She also coaches a national team. Melissah Kelly coaches some of our junior skaters.
